Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra to present Fall Concert Iowa’s Got Talent!

The Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 2025–2026 season with MASTERWORKS #1: Iowa’s Got Talent! on Saturday, October 4 at 7:30 PM at the Bridge View Center. Under the baton of Dr. William LaRue Jones, this vibrant program celebrates Iowa’s musical brilliance with works by regional composers and a dazzling guest soloist.

Highlights include:

  • Glory by Jerry Owen
  • Scotland: Land of Enchantment by Peter Bloesch, commissioned by the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra
  • Myriad by Michael Kimber, conducted by Dr. Richard Heidel
  • Symphonic Impressions, a medley from The Music Man by Meredith Willson, arranged by Richard Hayman

Following intermission, the orchestra presents Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Dr. Marian Lee. Her appearance is generously sponsored by Mr. Eugene Belz. 

The Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra is proud to welcome acclaimed pianist Dr. Marian Lee for a special performance on Saturday, October 4. A Juilliard-trained artist and Fulbright scholar, Dr. Lee brings a rich international pedigree and expressive artistry to the stage.

Her career spans performances with the Ann Arbor and Flint Symphony Orchestras, advanced studies at Juilliard and the Moscow Conservatory, and a doctoral degree from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Lee currently serves as Chair of the Music Department and Head of Keyboard Studies at St. Ambrose University, where she also founded the university’s popular Summer Piano Camp.
